About

In an age dominated by corporate media control, the importance of alternative media in contesting mainstream interpretations, promoting alternative understandings and supporting the development of a radical popular culture can hardly be overstated. ukwatch.net is our contribution.

We update daily with comment, analysis and opinion pieces focused upon UK politics, economics, society and culture. We strive to provide tools for further research by linking to related resources, websites and print materials. We also aim to provide space encouraging debate and research, as well as a forum for developing a broad, cross-issue appreciation of the challenges facing the radical activist left in the UK.

Radical alternatives for positive social change are not only urgently required, they are also achievable. To develop coherent visions of progressive change, we believe it is important to appreciate the interdependence of different struggles and challenges.

We particularly wish to promote constructive visions of a better society and work that discusses the tactical and strategic choices required to achieve them. Toward this end, we seek to encourage organisations, authors, activists and scholars to share their knowledge and experience with others in the UK activist community.

The site is run on a not-for-profit basis and edited by a collective of volunteers. It will never carry commercial advertising.
