The UK government should abandon its insistence on exempting certain weapons from the new cluster munitions treaty, says Human Rights Watch.

A decision by Britain’s highest court on the use of secret evidence against terrorism suspects sets an important precedent, Human Rights Watch said today.

In a new briefing paper, Human Rights Watch calls on the UK government to reconsider its new counter-terrorist proposals in the light of existing human rights commitments. In particular, the government should abandon efforts to extend pre-charge detention beyond the current 28 day limit.
