In a verdict which Greenpeace describe as marking a ‘tipping point’ for the climate change movement, a Crown Court jury today dealt a major blow to UK coal-fired power plans by acquitting six Greenpeace volunteers of criminal damage. The protesters had attempted to shut down the Kingsnorth coal-fired power station in Kent last year.
