This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Nakba, the catastrophe which saw hundreds of thousands of Palestinians forced from their homes and turned into refugees.

On 10 May the Palestine Solidarity Campaign have called a demonstration to commemorate the Nakba and calling for an end to the siege of Gaza and the right to return.

Instead of relying on the border police, the EU should assess the effects of its own policies on the poor, migrant-sending countries. Unless the policies that perpetuate the conditions for poverty and injustice are changed, the reasons for migration will remain. Susan George reports.
